The Great Conjunction 2022: A wondrous Cosmic Gift!
The Spring season is upon us. It's a season full of joy, love, hope and brightness. The blooming of flowers, and the chirping of Birds! The sky is also happy! We were hit hard by the Covid pandemic in 2020. But as the year ended, the Winter Solstice Great Combination of Saturn and Jupiter provided us with an unforgettable experience that we will cherish for the rest of our lives! Our solar system is in a good mood this year! Since March, the Planetary Conjunctions 2022 are in full swing. There is a huge planet party happening in the sky. People living in the Northern Hemisphere have many chances to see Mercury, Venus Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus in flight. I'm super excited and I know you are too!
What's the Great Combination?
The Great Planetary Conjunction, a simple term, refers to the sight of two or more planets being close together in the sky. As the planets are far apart, this illusion of closeness is only an illusion. Although they appear very close, in reality they are far apart!
It is possible to be in conjunction with two celestial objects or planets if they have the same rights ascension and ecliptic longitude. A conjunction is when the distance between two objects or planets are shorter than normal!
The distance between two planets is generally 0.50 to 0.90. Sometimes, however, the planets may appear closer. It was the Great Conjunction 2020, when Saturn and Jupiter were only 0.10 miles apart. Now we have the Solar Conjunction 2022. It is a cosmic gift! This amazing event can be seen with your naked eye! You can use your binoculars, or get the assistance of an Astro-enthusiast to see it through the telescope. Let's learn more about the celestial events that we will be witnessing!
The Fascinating May Connections
Many Astro-fans and stargazers may have seen some of these May conjunctions. If you were an early riser, the spectacle must have been amazing!
May 24, 25 A waning crescent Moon traversed past Mars, Jupiter. Venus appears like a bright star. Jupiter was the second brightest star after Venus. Mars, a shining red sparkling star, is moving towards Jupiter. It can be seen towards Jupiter. Saturn is also visible to the right of Jupiter.
Mars and Jupiter Conjunction May 29, 2022
We are now moving towards the amazing 29th May 2022 when we will witness the stunning rendezvous of Jupiter & Mars! Early risers will be in for a treat as they can view this miracle approximately 60 to 90 minutes before sunrise. Jupiter will shine brighter than any of the other planets. Mars, the beautiful red planet, will be right next to Jupiter.
Mars will be visible to the left Jupiter on May 30th, as Jupiter moves away from Mars. This will lead to its great Opposition of 26 September! Opposition is when the Earth crosses the Sun and Jupiter. Jupiter is on the other side of the Sun. Jupiter will shine brightest at this time thanks to the Sun and will be visible throughout the night! It is, however, the Great Conjunction 2022 that will be happening on May 29. We all wait with eager anticipation for the Great Conjunction 2022 on May 29!
Let's also look at the features of Jupiter and Mars. They are part of the solar system and Mars is our neighbor. They are here -
Mars - It is the fourth and final planet between Jupiter and Earth! It is often called the Red planet. It is a rocky planet that has Canyons, Volcanoes and dry lakes. There are also craters. The atmosphere of the planet is thinly layered with Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide.
Jupiter Jupiter is not a rock planet like Earth. It is not as massive as Earth and it is not hot enough to cause thermonuclear reactions. It is covered in thick clouds of red, yellow, brown and brown colors! It looks like it has stripes! We now come to the rings. There are four rings on Jupiter.
The Halo Ring
The Main Ring
The Amalthea Ring
The Thebe Gossamer Ring
They are made up of dust particles. The Great Red Spot is one of the most distinctive features. Jupiter does not have any light. It shines only with the light of sunlight. Although it may look like a star that has failed, it is larger than any other planets. It has a large heart, we can tell!
Their meeting would be an unforgettable event that they will cherish for a lifetime! Isn't it? Some of us might have missed out on Conjunctions more than we realize! The conjunctions started in March. Let's see what it looks like!
March Conjunctions
2nd March – Mercury - Saturn Conjunction
16th March – Venus-Mars Conjunction
29th March – Venus - Saturn Conjunction
April Conjunctions
5th April - Mars - Saturn Conjunction
12th April - Jupiter-Neptune Conjunction
18th April - Mercury-Uranus Conjunction
30th April - Venus - Jupiter Conjunction
Conclusion
Wow! Wow! It's an unforgettable experience. It is a must-see event, the Mars-Jupiter Great Conjunction 2022 which took place on May 29th. It's a love story of the solar system. Celestial events happen very rarely, so grab them with both your eyes! Set your alarm and get up early. Let the love of the planets shine in your heart and absorb the glitter!
